And a Happy New Year
For auld lang syne
Friends, thank you so much for joining me this year on my new journey toward being an independent knitwear designer. I adore designing, as well as writing, teaching, and sharing my knit life. I would do all of those in a vacuum, but I have way more fun when I get to share them with others!
And to Subscribers who are reading this in your email, thank you for trusting me enough to invite me into your lives each week. I deeply appreciate you.
In with the new
I cherish the dawn of a new year. I find so much hope and promise in that one momentous midnight. (Not that I am usually awake to usher it in the front door.)
The New Year fills me with hope for new beginnings, new habits, and new successes.
As I’ve aged, I have turned from literal Resolutions toward Intentions. I have a much easier time sticking to a few-word mantra that inspires my goals, rather than a list of what, eventually, feel like impossible rules.
In 2023, I chose “Healthy and Grounded.” When I remembered that phrase, I did well! Granted, I believe I’m going to have to paste this year’s phrase somewhere where I’ll see it daily.
What’s the new phrase???? I’m going with….
Healthy Habits
I acknowledge that isn’t the most exciting of mantras. I wish it was “Become a Supermodel” or “Write Twenty Best-Selling Novels” or “Sail an Eighty-Foot Yacht Around the World with My Best Friends.”
Maybe I can aim for something super exciting someday. For now, I’m focusing on the small, everyday decisions that knit together to create a life. My life.
I have some healthy habits already, but I also have some unhealthy ones. (I write this while I stuff my face with the delectable cherry cordials I received for Christmas…)
My goal is to live a healthy, happy, and (hopefully) long life. While I haven’t reached a season of life when major health problems tend to emerge, I would like to do everything I can now to avoid developing them in the future.
Because let’s face it, if I want to knit all of the projects in my queue with all of the yarn in my stash, I need to have my wits about me for at least another fifty years!
Healthy Lifestyle = Knitting All the Things
Are you setting Intentions or Resolutions for the New Year? I’d love to hear them!
