Friends, Happy Winnie the Pooh Day!!!
My family has celebrated this holiday for years. Today marks the birthday of Winnie-the-Pooh author A. A. Milne.
I sincerely hope that you are well-familiar with Winnie the Pooh, but if not…
The Book
He is an adorable stuffed bear who lives in the Hundred Acre Wood near his boy, Christopher Robin. An array of friends accompany Pooh in the Woods. His best friend, the timid and diminutive Piglet, lives just down the path from him. Nearby also are Eyeore, the down-cast donkey who can never find his tail; Kanga, a mother who consistently worries over her child, and Roo, her son who worries about nothing; Rabbit, a curmudgeonly gardener; and Owl, the scholar in a high tower. One day, Tigger comes bouncy-trouncying into their Corner of the Wood, and their lives are forever changed.
The stories (and resulting movies and tv shows) are possibly the most endearing I’ve ever experienced. And they are packed with simply stated insights into truth and humanity. It’s no wonder Winnie-the-Pooh has inspired a variety of books on philosophy, positivity, and wisdom.
And anytime you need a heart-felt quote on love, friendship, or honey, Winnie can supply you with a long list of options.
The Feast
Our typical Winnie the Pooh Day feast consists of Pooh’s Honey (biscuits with honey), Tigger Tails (cellentani pasta with red sauce), Piglets in a Blanket (hotdogs in crescent rolls), Eyeore’s House Sticks (pretzel sticks), Roo Berries (blueberries), Rabbit’s Garden Snacks (cut fresh veggies, like carrots and celery), and Owl’s Acorns (either nuts we have on hand, or Hershey’s Kisses attached with peanut butter to bite-sized Nutter Butters).
The Lesson
Pooh believes in his friends. He shows them love in simple ways. Through faith and trust and a healthy dose of uncomplicated positivity, Pooh is the champion and comfort every child—and adult—needs.
My Healthy Habit for this week is two-fold:
Take time with family and friends to celebrate the Good in life. Eat hearty foods that have special meaning, while enjoying the time I am given with people who I love. (And of course, have a post-feast knitting session while I chat with my loved ones!)
Approach the world around me with an open and trusting heart. While I may be disappointed or occasionally defeated, at least I can rest knowing that I did my best to bring a little sunshine to my Corner of the Wood.
I crocheted this Winnie the Pooh Hat by Amanda Maciel years ago for a friend’s newborn.🧡❤️

What a fun tradition to have in your family❤️
What a lovely blog. I didn't grow up with Pooh, but now I want to read!
